netlagd	2:41p	stupid on so many levels first off, I don't mean to belittle the woman in this story, she has a valid point that being classified in a certain manner could impact her livelihood. People should be able to expect privacy. My issue is, that if I read this right, Netflix took personal subscriber data and ran a contest with developers to develop a better matching and recommending tool. One of the contestants decided to de-anonymous-ize the data proving that they could tie information back to the originating source - i.e. specific customer. Okay, they figured out how they could do it, but ethically, they definitely should not be doing such a thing. Tying back data to the individual was not what they were supposed to do as part of the exercise. Also, it is a rather false assumption that what you watch has anything to do with sexual preference, political leanings or gender. netlagd	4:36p	Saceur's e-magazine So somehow I ended up subscribed to Saveur's e-magazine. I've really been enjoying e-browsing the articles (well, mostly recipes). The photography is mouthwatering, and the recipes are interesting. And truly, who wouldn't love a magazine featuring the best hangover foods in their New Year's issue. http://www.saveur.com/article/Recipes/Best-Hangover-Food I adore the idea of Peanut Butter and Banana sushi! http://www.saveur.com/article/Recipes/Foreigner-Roll The email comes once a week, and though probably not the best thing to read on an empty stomach, before going to the grocery store - much too much temptation. netlagd	12:56a	more chex, less mix please So I noticed that the bag has changed for the Chex Cheddar Mix. At first I thought that there were two different sizes or that they've switched to smaller amounts at the same price. But no, they've added more filler to their cheddar mix in the way of an additional pretzel and these squigly lightning bolt pasty not-so-cheddar things. I'm sure it is cheaper to these filler items than the actual cheddar cheese sprayed chex themselves. But since it is chex mix, one would think that they'd have a pretty good deal going with the manufacturer. Personally, I'd buy just the whole wheat chex with the spray cheese and forget about any of the other parts of the mix. Yep, whole wheat, then corn, then rice, then pretzels and cheese crackers folks. Old: New: note new packaging and more filler - round and square pretzels, triangle and squiggle cheddar cracker like things I know that you are saying, why don't you just make your own.
